They don't include a cable, I had wait for 3 more weeks and expense unecesary money to work with this eSata card. It works very good but they must bring at least one cable!

I'll start by saying that I am using Windows 7 64-bit. I had read reviews elsewhere from people with Win 7 saying they had luck with this card, so I gave it a shot.

I tried popping the card in and starting up the PC, just to be sure Win 7 didn't already have drivers for the card. It didn't. It saw the card, and then after doing it's thing, it said it couldn't find a driver.

Next step: go to the Addonics web site to download the current drivers. There I came to a problem: they have 64-bit drivers, but as far as I can tell, they are only valid for Vista or lower. But most Vista drivers work well with Win 7, so I gave it a shot.

The drivers installed fine, but my PC seemed to have fits and starts, where it would literally freeze for a second or two, then resume. This continued happening even after rebooting. I was pretty sure the drivers weren't going to work.

So I Googled for drivers, and had my best luck when searching not for the product name, but instead for the Silicon Images chipset name/number (3124r5). I found the official download page at the Silicon Images site, and it included Win 7 drivers from April 2010. Yay.

I uninstalled the old drivers using the Device Manager, and had it delete the old driver files. I then rebooted and installed the new drivers (from Device Manager). Everything went perfectly, and the card appears to be working great now, no freezes or problems. I attached an external hard drive, and it works great.

For 64-bit Win 7, you want the driver labeled "SiI 3124 64-bit Windows SATARAID5 Driver". There is a 32-bit version also, for those who didn't install the best version of Win 7. ;-)

There is another driver named "SiI 3124 64-bit Windows BASE Driver for Windows 7". That one did not seem to be recognized, so I would just skip it.

So, for any Win 7 users installing this card, skip the Addonics site, and get your drivers directly from the link above. It will save you a lot of time, and you'll be much happier with your purchase.

BTW, I took a star off the rating because of the outdated drivers on the Addonics site. The card itself seems great. I needed/wanted a PCI-X card specifically, and I love that there are four external ports -- not one or two, which is more common. So from a hardware perspective, it gets 5 stars from me.

The bios of my DELL 1600SC does not recognize this card. Here are the details:

1] I plugged the card into ANY PCI-X or PCI slot (I tried them all) The BIOS and windows does not recognize the card.

2] Start windows, then hot plug the card (not safe to do) into any slot. No luck here either.

3] Start computer, enter bios (with or without card in slot) Bios shows slot empty. Then remove and reattach the card while in bios setup (not safe to do) Now bios shows the card as present. Exit BIOS, windows recognizes the devices and it works with my eSATA HDD. Upon reboot, windows can no longer see the card.

Looks like a BIOS problem, either with the mobo or PCI card, I don't know
